The long lost race nerves return…
January 18 marks the day when I got run down with pneumonia. A very long, exhausting (mentally and physically) and frustrating 3 months later and I’m starting to find the tiniest bit of form(maybe form isn’t the best word.. some type of fitness??). It’s been a long road to recovery, and I still have a long way to go but I’m excited for my first race back since Tour down under.
I haven’t put much thought into how I’m going to go at my first NRS race for the season, and my first race back since I got sick. I’ve been doing some solid training to make sure I don’t get sick again. Lots of rest included, some swimming (which wow I forgot how hard swimming was) and a new meal plan to ensure I have the healthiest recovery possible. So recovery is a tick. Top form.. not so much but hey who would expect that? I’m going into this NRS tour as I would any other race. Giving it 120%.
I’m super excited, I love racing and I’ve been pretty race deprived if you ask me… It’s not going to be easy, that’s a given and it will be strange for me not being ready for a race but I’m always up for a new challenge. Hopefully this weekend I can be leadout man for my teammates and just help out the best I can. This will be a good stepping stone for America!
But hey that’s still a month away, and I’ve got a NRS tour to get through first! Until next time readers, wish me luck.. I’m going to need it!
